2010 is poised to be an exciting and interesting year. The shock wave of the economy has rolled over us and it’s now time to get busy picking up the pieces. There are continued signs of a returning confidence as well as indications that businesses are starting to come out of hibernation and get back to work. The big question is what does “work” look like? First of all, give up the notion that we’ll return to the way things were 3 years ago. the consumer is different, the market factors are different and the competition is vastly different.
One major change will be how the customers see businesses and products. Customers understand they are in the driver’s seat and can pick and choose. Tantamount to all other aspects will be providing the customer with the highest quality experience throughout the entire process. Simplifying the online experience, providing easy channels into and out of the company, integrating support services throughout the whole process and engaging the customer in the product improvement process will all be key to finding and retaining customers in 2010.
Start this new year off with the simple questions: Would I choose my own company to do business with? and What are the hardest parts of being a customer of my company? The answers to theses questions will set your first quarter to-do list.
Happy New Year everyone.
